Bob B. McCarroll

COLONIE - Bob B. McCarroll, 66, of Consaul Road, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Bob was born in Schenectady on November 7, 1941, a son of the late Robert and Edna Eckert McCarroll. He was educated in Schenectady schools and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1959. He honorably served his country in the Air Force, during the Vietnam Conflict. Bob worked with the NYS Police for 27 years, currently as an associate computer programmer analyst. Bob also faithfully served his community and his church. He was a member of Abounding Grace Christian Church; he participated in music ministry for the Kingsway Arms Nursing Home; for many years, he coached CYO boy's basketball, Little League and Pop Warner football, in Schenectady. Bob also participated in the Colonie Senior Basketball Over 50 League and the Senior Clifton Park Softball League.

Bob leaves behind a great legacy of love for his wife, sons, grandchildren and friends. Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Toni DeVito McCarroll; his loving sons, Harry McCarroll and his wife Karen of Valley Falls and Patrick McCarroll and his wife Cheryl of Colonie; his adoring grandchildren, Gary and Sarah McCarroll, Michael, Nicholas and Nathan McCarroll, Summer Garmley, Alyssa McCarroll, Kara, Steven and Shawn Petibone and the late Robert B. McCarroll; his great-grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Aiden McCarroll; his devoted siblings, Shirley Knights and her husband Bill of Fla., Joan Bosher, of Rotterdam, Mary Lou McCarroll of Glenville, Jackie Vinehout and her husband Gerald of Colonie, Patty Colwell and her husband Doug and Sue and her husband John Washburn, all of Schenectady; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Abounding Grace Christian Church, 3060 Hamburg Street, with the Pastor Jay A. Stillinger officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, this from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
