Joseph A. Quickley

Joseph A. Quickley, 56, departed this life on August 6, 2004 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.

Joseph was born in the Bronx, NY on March 29, 1948 to the late John A. And Peggy Quickley.

Joseph moved to Albany in 1961, with his parents. He was educated in the Albany School District. He attended Arizona State University on a basketball scholarship. He retired as a supervisor from the NYS Office of General Services after 26 years of employment.

Joseph was an avid sportsman; he received multiple awards for his basketball accomplishments. He was a member of various bowling and softball leagues. He volunteered as a coach for youth teams in Arbor Hill and in the South End baseball leagues. Joseph served as a counselor and mentor to many people in his lifetime.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a sister, Jayanne Harrison of Schenectady; one brother, John Quickley Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; and his daughters, Rena (SheMecca), Keshema, Rachelle Shabazz of Albany, Rahshon Muhammad of Long Island, Elycia Quickley-Chew of Greenbelt, Md. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, two great-grandsons, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He also leaves to mourn Wilbert Blackman a dear friend.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 9 at 12:00 noon at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours wiere held on Monday from 10:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Interment was in Memory's Garden Cemetery, Colonie.
