William Johnson Obituary

William Johnson (Bill), 84-years-old, originally from Rome, New York and for the last 50 years has resided in Niskayuna, New York passed away on Sep 20, 2023.

Born in Rome, New York on January 3, 1939. Bill was the middle child of 3 born to Ruth Van Vechten Johnson Brand.

He was preceded in his passing by his sister Golda Schrader of Stittville NY. His sister Chris Brand Tilton resides in McConnellsville, NY.

Bill met his wife Karen O’Connell Johnson in the summer of 1957, they married in 1958 and had 4 Children.

Bill was an electrician by profession while residing in Rome, NY until being hired by Golub, Corporation as an operations manager in 1969. He worked in energy management as a sales representative until starting his own business, WJ Associates automatic doors.

Bill was naturally athletic and remained active throughout his life beginning with records in swimming in high school and continuing with softball, played basketball up until his 80’s, and golfed up until he passed away. His senior basketball league won many state championships, and he found great pleasure in remaining active, competing and being part of a team. He was

fiercely independent, with a dry sense of humor, and loved visits from his family and friends.

He was preceded by his wife Karen (2021), his son’s Robert Johnson (2004), Daniel Johnson

(2018) and his sister Golda Schrader of Stittville NY.

Bill is survived by his daughter Renee Johnson (David Eisner) grandchildren Sarah Eisner Krantz (Michael) in Denver, and Max Eisner in DC, his son William Johnson, Jr. grandchildren

Isabelle and Madee in Naples, Fla, granddaughter Elliot Johnson in Burlington, Vt, and grandson Courtney Blood in Schenectady, NY. He also has 3 great grandchildren and beloved extended family and friends.

A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
