Juan E. Vega Jr. 60, passed away suddenly Sunday February 2, 2014. Born in New York City he came to Schenectady in 1977. He was employed as a proofreader at the N.Y.S. Legislative Bill Drafting Commission, and earned his Bachelors Degree in Business from Excelsior College. He was a founding member of the NY Latino Greater Capital Region Dollars For Scholars Inc., and as a self taught piano and conga player, he had a true passion for music. He also enjoyed playing for the Colonie Senior Basketball League on team "Albany RV." Among other things, he enjoyed helping others and spending time with those he loved. He leaves his memory to be cherished by his father Juan Enrique Vega Sr., sister Maritza, brother Angel, children Candida and Gabriel, niece and nephew Dulcinea and Benjamin, loving companion Ivette Hall and his many beautiful grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 8th, 2014 at 3pm at Jones Funeral Home, Inc. 1503 Union Street Schenectady, NY 12309.
