George Garlock, who was one of the original members of the CSBL, passed away on October 1. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church on Thursday at 11 am. George was 79 and his last year in the league was 2010.

George H. Garlock III


George H. Garlock III, 79, of Ballston Spa, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015, at his home. Born in Gloversville, NY on August 15, 1936, he was the son of George and Genevieve Garlock Jr. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman.

George owned and operated Garlock-Cadillac-Olds in Gloversville for many years. He also owned Garlock Rental Leasing in Gloversville and National Auto Consultants in Ballston Spa. George had a passion for basketball and enjoyed playing at the YMCA. In 1991, he established the Colonie Senior Basketball League for players over 50 years of age.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Genevieve; and his sister, Dayle Baker. George is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joyce; his children, Jennifer Keller (Jim) of Greenfield, George H. Garlock IV of Saratoga Springs and Raymond Garlock of Albany; grandchildren, Nicolas Keller, Ceclia Keller and Nicholas Garlock; and his sister, Janis Hine (Louis) of North Carolina.

Memorial contributions in memory of George may be made to the Michael Fox Foundation, Gloversville YMCA or Ballston Spa United Methodist Church
