Mike Manning

Michael J. 'Mooney' Manning, 54, of Troy, died suddenly on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late William and Anna Norris Manning, and the devoted husband of 32 years to Patricia Mulcahy Manning of Troy.

Mr. Manning was a graduate of St. Patrick's School, Watervliet; Catholic Central High School, class of 1967; J.C.A., class of 1969; and Quinnipiac College class of 1972. He was a sales manager for Sprague Energy of Portsmouth, N.H.

Mr. Manning was a lifelong avid basketball player and NY Yankee fan, and also a member of 'The Friends of 112th Street' (Hall of Fame inductee 2003), the Colonie Senior Basketball League, the Oil Heat Institute, and the Watervliet Civic Center.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include sons Jason Manning and his wife Shannon of East Greenbush, and Kevin Manning of Troy; sisters, Marianne Manning of Saratoga, and Judith Terhune of Bradenton, Fla.; sister-in-law, Judy Manning of Watervliet, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Manning was predeceased by his brothers Bill and Jack Manning.

Funeral service will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. from St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Troy.

Friends are invited and may call at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 870 Second Avenue between 124th and 125th Streets in Lansingburgh on Sunday, 4- 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Mooney's memory to the Watervliet Civic Center, 102 14th Street, Watervliet, NY 12189 or to the Lansingburgh Boys & Girls Club, 501 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.
