Coach Jim Zullo led his teams to 469 wins over his thirty-one year coaching career. His teams won twelve league and seven Section 2 crowns. His ’86-’87 Shenedehowa team won the NYSPHSAA and Federation State Championship titles. He helped start the High Five and Low Five Summer Camps. He started the Uncas Holiday Tournament and was co-founder of the Greg Koubek Basketball camp. He coached in the Empire State Games. In retirement he volunteers as an assistant coach. He has received many honors and awards. He was named Coach of the Year numerous times by the league and media.

The most successful coach in the history of the Shenendehowa boys basketball program, Jim amassed over 400 victories during his 25 plus years as coach at Shenendehowa. Hired to coach the boys varsity basketball team in 1973, Jim held that position until 1998. Jim’s team won the Suburban Council Championship twelve times and he captured six Section II Class A Championships (1985, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1996) as coach at Shenendehowa.
The 1987 team also captured the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championship. Jim was also voted the Basketball Coaches Association of New York Coach of the Year in 1987 and is also a member of the BCANY (Basketball Coaches Association of NY) Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame exists to recognize and reward individuals who have significantly improved basketball in New York State and have served as glowing examples of New York State Basketball. Each year we host an induction ceremony to honor and thank these people for their outstanding contributions.
Jim was inducted into the Shenendehowa High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010
He played basketball at the University of Connecticut and with the semi-pro Albany Schaffer Brewers with players Barry Kramer and Dave Bleau.
