Our Hall of Fame currently has 2 categories: Outside  Hall of Fame and CSBL Lifetime Achievement-Octogenerians.  The Outside Hall of Fame category will recognize achievements prior to participation in the CSBL by individuals who are members of a Sports Hall of Fame, have played or coached a state or national championship team, or achieved the elite level of being a professional athlete. The Lifetime Achievement-Octogenerian section will recognize the amazing achievement and longevity of league players who are over the age of 80.  Our octogenarians have defied all odds and remain active and playing in their 80’s.  Over 26 million Americans play basketball (according to the SGMA’s U.S. Trends in Team Sports research).  15.5 million people play casual/pick-up basketball. 4.1 million play in organized leagues. 5.8 million play on a school or college team. More people play basketball in the U.S. than any other sport. Only 7% of this number are people over 50.  No specific data is available but only a tiny number are still playing at age 80.  It takes good genes and a lot of luck, a lifetime of good living, and the desire and commitment to maintain an active life with enthusiasm and desire to play this game we all love.  America’s population of people over the age of 90 has tripled since 1980 to a total of 1.9 million and is expected to reach 7.6 million by 2040 so keep on trucking guys. Three cheers to our Octogenarians-you inspire us!
