In 1972, Geoff Coufal was awarded the Dr. Dan Mullin Scholar-Athlete Award at SUNY Geneseo. This award is presented to the senior male student-athlete who has had the most outstanding combination of athletic achievement, grade point average, and academic honors in his career. Geoff played baseball (outfield) and basketball (point guard) at SUNY Geneseo. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.65 GPA with a BA in Biology.
